Oh, NOOOOOOOO!!!

What a major heartbreak this weekend. Vols win! Vols lose.

S1 went to the game with several friends from college and enjoyed lots of good food. He drove around to see familiar sights from his childhood (we lived in Nola for 23 years).

My comment on the game: Les Miles is the luckiest man in America.

An LSU friend of Jim Bob's said this: We need more, not Les.

Best headline: LSU wins on redoux. Wes Rucker of the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
UPDATE: Clever headline courtesy of TFP sports editor Jay Greeson.

Even the CBS commentators talked about LSU's incompetence.

S1 also went to the Saints-Chargers game on Sunday so he got to see a win.

Bummer.

Cool View...

This is the view S1 & DIL1 had for the UT-Oregon game. They won sideline passes @ a charity auction.

Hurricane Forecast...

Nuff said!!

Super Bowl 2010!!!

Since our kids grew up in New Orleans, they are all big Saints fans. This has been an unbelievable year!
S1 leaves tonight for Miami - he has tickets to the game. S2 & S3 are going to Nola to watch the game. OnlyD will be watching with friends. We will be trying to stay warm (snow flurries this morning!) and will watch @ home. Geaux Saints!

Crossing the January Flats...

It has warmed up some in middle Tennessee - I was very excited to see temps. in the 40s.

I was completely exhausted by the brouhaha in Knoxville last week. I couldn't believe Kiffin ditched the Vols after only a year, but I think we have a better coach now. S1 was able to provide lots of inside dish & Twitter had some interesting info.

It seems as if the past year went by quickly, but it is hard to believe this is 2010! Where did the decade go??? Remember worrying about Y2K? Seems silly now.

RIP Steve McNair

Jim Bob & I were on our way "to town" to do some some shopping & have a yummy dinner @ the Chop House when his brother sent a text about Steve McNair's death last Saturday. This sad event has been all over the news in Middle Tennessee this week. My dad died when I was five, so my heart is broken for his family, especially his children. Such a waste - so pointless and COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE in my opinion. Like I used to tell my kids, everything you do matters!

Update: No will! I'm not surprised.

Orange & White Game 2009

We took a quick trip to Knoxville this past weekend for the Orange & White Game. We went with S1 & DIL1 & all four grandkids. They all did so well! Sweet Boy really liked the crane working on the addition to the stadium. It was warm but thankfully we were able to sit in the shade. Smart Girl & Sweet Girl wore their cheerleading outfits - soo cute! Sweet Baby drifted off to sleep. It was kinda funny to see Coach Kiffin on the field during the game reading his play chart. Attendance was great (51,000). Go Vols!!

The Titans...

We spent a very frustrating Saturday afternoon watching the Titans blow their season by losing to the Baltimore Ravens 13-10. No Super Bowl ring for Bud Adams (Titans owner) this year. What was the point of winning 13 games??? A real disappointment...

A Good Game...

We went to Knoxville to see our kids & Jim Bob went to the game with S1 & DIL1.

The Vols FINALLY mounted an offense that looked good. Too bad it came so late. The Vol Walk was jam-packed with people & Coach Fulmer seemed to enjoy the recognition. The crowd was smaller but it was cold & rainy & the game didn't really count. There were many supportive signs for Coach Fulmer in the crowd & video highlights of his career flashed on the Jumbotron. It was great to end on a win.

Those are some strong guys!

TENNESSEE TITANS ARE 10-0

Woo hoo! The Tennessee Titans are 10-0.

This development has been somewhat unexpected. They had early problems at QB, but things have been sailing along this season.

Coach Jeff Fisher has the longest tenure with one team among active head coaches in the NFL.

Pic is DE Jevon Kearse after the Titans beat Jacksonville 24-14.

[The Vols did not lose this weekend. The Vols did not play this weekend. ;-) ]

Rocky Bottom..

That's what the Knoxville News-Sentinel called it.

Jim Bob went to the game & said it was the worst UT game he has ever seen & he has been going since he was a child - his dad is an Alabama grad & they always went to the UT-Bama game. We were in college through the lean years of the '70s - we love you, Condredge, too bad you were a man without a team.

Anyway, this is awful!

It's Sad...

Jim Bob went to the UT-Bama game this weekend in K-town. S1 left early, which he NEVER EVER does. S1 says he doesn't expect a national championship every year, but UT should be competitive in the SEC title race, which they are not - year after year. Has the game passed Coach Fulmer by? It is sad...& the next guy could be worse.

This Is Better...UT 34 - Miss. State 3

Things are looking up in Big Orange Country. The Vols won one...yeah!! S1 said the team played better, etc. Jim Bob is going to the game next week in K-town.

ESPN has decided to broadcast the UT-Bama game @ 7:45PM EDT next Saturday (Oct. 25, 2008), but I am sure that is more about Bama (#2 in the BCS) & Saban than our boys in orange. :)

Bummer

Probably no National Championship run for the Vols this year. Like a thousand other UT games, they almost pulled it out, but in the end, no cigar. S1 went to the game - I'm sure he is fuming.

It's almost Football Time in Tennessee!

The Vols had seven players named to the preseason All-SEC list. Story here.

The season kicks off Sept. 1, 2008, against UCLA in the Rose Bowl - 8pm ET on ESPN.
